While [email protected] has been around for more than a decade, the project has recently turned its attention towards combating the COVID-19 outbreak.
A subsequent Reddit post detailed how cryptocurrency miners could contribute their GPU rigs to the effort.
User Fiach_Dubh said,
“I think if you have any spare computing power you should try this altruistic distributed computing experiment. Folding some proteins in virtual for the benefit of a COVID19 vaccine is very much in the spirit of early Bitcoin mining. And I feel it would make Satoshi proud to know that the little community he seeded grew into something that would be brave enough to take on the monsters of this world, in more ways than one.”
As previously reported, Tezos developer Johann Tanzer drew attention to the project two weeks ago by creating an XTZ prize pool for whichever community member contributed the most to [email protected] by the end of the month.
