Cardano, the twelfth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has received high remarks from Weiss Crypto Ratings.

According to a Twitter post published Nov. 4, Weiss Crypto Ratings lauded the Cardano project for solving most of the issues addressed by the CBC Casper Protocol. The post also gave praise to Algorand for completing a similar feat, while taking aim at Ethereum for “wasting a lot of time” on the protocol.

Ethereum researcher Vlad Zamfir was one of the first to address the issues facing consensus protocols in a paper titled “CBC Casper”. According to Zamfir, a consensus protocol must have two critical security properties: safety and liveness. Safety refers to the protocol avoiding inconsistent decision-making, while liveness requires an eventual decision to be made.

While developers have found it challenging to make proof-of-stake (PoS), decentralized networks both live and safe, Weiss Ratings says that Cardano and Algorand have managed to address the majority of the issues.

Ethereum is attempting to follow suit with its massive 2.0 update which will shift the network’s algorithm from proof-of-work (PoW) to PoS.
