EMURGO, which is the commercial arm of Cardano ($ADA), says that “with the latest release of Yoroi Wallet v4.10, Yoroi Wallet’s desktop extension versions on Windows, MacOS, and Linux browsers now support dApp Connector capabilities.”

As the recent report on Cardano by Kraken Intelligence explained, EMURGO is “a for-profit global blockchain solutions provider that focuses on the promotion of Cardano-based commercial applications.”

Yoroi — named after the Japanese word “o-yoroi“, which is “a prominent example of early Japanese armor worn by the samurai class of feudal Japan” — is a light wallet for Cardano that was developed as the result of a collaboration between EMURGO and Slovakian FinTech startup Vacuumlabs. The latter is “a software development company that builds modern full stack fintech solutions for startups, scale-ups and incumbent banks” and which first got involved with Cardano in 2018 when its developers started work on Adalite, which has become the world’s popular web-based Cardano wallet.

As EMURGO points out, “light wallets don’t need to download or synchronize the blockchain”, which “means that once you open the wallet, you can send or verify the reception of transactions right away.”

Earlier today (February 7), EMURGO published a blog post, which mentioned that “to help bridge Cardano dApps with Yoroi Wallet’s Cardano ADA users moving forward,” on 21 July 2021 it “announced several months ago its upcoming plans to launch Yoroi dApp Connector to support interactions between Cardano dApps and Yoroi users.”

Today’s blog post then went to announce that “with the latest release of Yoroi Wallet v4.10, Yoroi Wallet’s desktop extension versions on Windows, MacOS, and Linux browsers now support dApp Connector capabilities.” However, it should be noted that “for Mozilla Firefox users, Yoroi’s dApp Connector is not yet supported,” but “it will be available in the near future.”

What this means for Yoroi wallet users is that with the latest release, they should see this feature within the wallet, but keep in mind that “the dApp Connector is currently only usable by Cardano developers.”

EMURGO says that “this release is a key step towards bringing Yoroi users one step closer to connecting with Cardano dApps through Yoroi Wallet.”

It also mentions that Cardano developers can “now also use the dApp Connector to fully connect their dApps with Yoroi users” and that “by using the dApp Connector, developers can also enable Yoroi users to participate in any activities that the dApp permits such as purchasing or selling Cardano-based tokens and NFTs, gaining access to resources, and using other features offered by their dApp.”
