A fan of professional basketball team Dallas Mavericks (aka “The Mavs”) has won $100,000 in Bitcoin after successfully completing a basketball shooting contest.

According to a tweet by the team, which competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Southwest Division, lucky (and talented) Mavs fan Isaiah Stone won a six-figure prize in Bitcoin last Thursday (October 28) for winning the shootout challenge, including scoring buckets in a free throw, three-pointer, and half-court competition.

The cash prize represented the “largest” award for an on-court promotion by the Mavericks, courtesy of the team’s newest partner and sponsor, crypto brokerage firm Voyager Digital

According to a report by Cointelegraph, last Wednesday (October 27), it was announced that the Mavs had entered a five-year partnership with Voyager Digital in order to increase crypto exposure among basketball fans via promotions that engage with fans.

In a press release issued on October 27, Voyager Digital said that it had “entered into a five-year exclusive, integrated partnership with the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the team’s first cryptocurrency brokerage and international partner.”

The press release went on to say that Voyager and the Dallas Mavericks will “work to make cryptocurrency more accessible through educational and community programs, global activations, and fan engagement promotions.”

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban, who is the majority owner of the Mavs, had this say:

The Mavs are proud to welcome Voyager to the Dallas Mavericks family. Crypto assets and applications are changing how business and personal finance are done. We believe our partnership with Voyager will allow Mavs and NBA fans to learn more about Voyager and how they can earn more from Voyagers’ platform than from traditional financial applications.
