On Thursday (May 21), just one day before Bitcoin Pizza Day, Christie Pearce Rampone, a former captain of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team (USWNT), joined the crypto community by buying her “first piece of #Bitcoin” with the help of Binance.US CEO Catherine Coley.

Pearce Rampone (or “Captain America” as many of her fans like to call her) is a legendary American soccer player. She “retired as a professional player in 2017 and currently works as a broadcast analyst for FOX Sports.”

She has played for the U.S. in FIFA’s Women’s World Cup five times, and was the captain of the 2015 team that won the World Cup in 2015 (when USA beat Japan in the final 5-2). During her time with the USWNT,  she played in 19 Women’s World Cup matches, and captained the team on 113 occasions.

Pearce Rampone is also a three-time Olymic gold medalist, winning championship titles at the 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, and 2012 London Olympics.

Yesterday, Pearce Rampone gave an interview to Binance.US CEO Catherine Coley. There were two questions about crypto in this interview.

When asked what she knows about Bitcoin, Pearce Rampone replied:

“As we say in sports, I’m a rookie right now in Bitcoin. But what I do know is that it is a digital currency that is most popular and the most valuable, which we like to hear, and that there’s a limited supply.

“So you kind of want to get in early and obviously like sports, you do want to educate yourself and that’s why I’m so excited to talk to you.”

Coley also asked Pearce Rampone how she generally feels about crypto.

This was the reply:

“I’m excited. You know, I think as an athlete, you’re always in this growth mindset. You’re learning and you’re trying to educate yourself.

“And so I feel right now about this with the new technology and the new advancements and being able to go online and be in control of your own investments. I’m excited.

“So I do feel like I’m safe. I’m in good hands. It’s secure. And it’s a growth process. And just like sports now, it’s a process.

“And I’m excited to go from rookie to hopefully better one day.”

In the video clip attached to the tweet below by Binance.US, you can see Coley teaching her how to buy some bitcoin for the first time with the help of the Binance.US mobile app:

Shortly afterwards, Pearce Rampone tweeted about her first Bitcoin purchase to her roughly 310K followers:
