Taiwanese consumer electronics company HTC is launching a blockchain router that will allow users to run full bitcoin nodes from their homes.

Following the launch of two cryptocurrency smartphones, the Exodus 1 and 1s, HTC is planning to release a blockchain router dubbed Exodus 5G Hub that will allow users to run full bitcoin nodes from their home. The Android-based router will offer 5G connectivity for home devices, with an added emphasis on privacy that includes decentralized VPN and ad blockers.

HTC says the device is capable of supporting high-speed encrypted network connections for up to 20 devices and hinted at additional privacy features that have yet to be announced.

The Hub will support HTC’s Zion Vault software, a hardware-backed key management platform that allows users to conduct transactions independent of any third party. Users can also use the device for operating a full bitcoin node, thereby contributing to the network’s overall security.

The Exodus 5G Hub is set to launch in Q2, 2020.
