Support CryptoGlobe and Brave by trying out the Brave browser.

Apple has recommended the cryptocurrency-powered Brave browser as one of the “New Apps We Love” on its Hong Kong app store, marking another milestone for the privacy-focused browser.

The move was first spotted by a Reddit user who quickly shared on the platform an image of the recommendation. In response various users pointed out the Brave browser has, on desktop, been one of the first to recommended to its users the Ethereum browser interface MetaMask,  and features its own built-in cryptocurrency wallet.

This is relevant as Coinbase recently removed the decentralized application browser from its mobile cryptocurrency wallet, Coinbase Wallet, in order to remain in compliance with Apple’s App Store policy.

The Brave browser was funded via an initial coin offering (ICO) and was created by former Mozilla CEO and JavaScript creator Brendan Eich. By default, it blocks ads and trackers, and rewards users with its Basic Attention Token (BAT) for seeing privacy-preserving ads.

In November 2019 it came out of Beta after launching its Brave Rewards program for iOS devices. As a result, Google searches for it surged, hitting the maximum on the index. Thanks to the search interest, it grew from over 8.7 million users to over 10 million.

As CryptoGlobe reported, the browser’s user base tripled in just one year thanks to its privacy-centric nature and the Brave Rewards program. It now has over 350,000 verified content creators, which include websites, YouTubers, Twitch Streamers, Reddit users, and more.

Brave’s pop-up ads that reward users with BAT are currently available in dozens of countries. In the future, the browser plans to launch a system that’ll allow content creators to publish ads directly on their platforms to earn BAT rewards.
