Parity Technologies, the open-source blockchain infrastructure company, has released a new version of its Parity Signer software that enables users to turn their old mobile phones into offline crypto wallets.

Available on both iOS and Android, Parity Signer v3.0 is designed to be used on a dedicated smartphone that should be kept offline at all times, the company said in an announcement on its website.

New Features

The app enables users to store Polkadot and Ethereum assets securely and introduces new features such as universal offline signatures for more efficient data transmission.

Parity said that to keep funds safe, the phone containing the user’s accounts should never be connected to the internet or even to a device that is connected to the internet. Once Parity Signer is installed the dedicated phone should be switched to airplane mode, and all connectivity – such as WiFi and Bluetooth – must be disabled.

Parity Technologies was co-founded by Gavin Wood, co-founder and former chief technology officer of Ethereum and the author of the Polkadot white paper, and chief executive Jutta Steiner, former chief of security at Ethereum.
