Bitcoin bull and eccentric cybersecurity expert John McAfee has upped his price prediction for BTC to $2 million by the end of next year.

According to McAfee, who gained renown as the creator of the infamous anti-virus software, the price of bitcoin will eclipse $2 million per coin by the end of 2020. McAfee had previously issued the bold prediction that the currency would reach $500,000 in 2020, before upping the prediction to $1 million in September.

At the time he told Forbes that there are only 21 million BTC up for grabs, and that “seven million of which have been lost forever.” He also noted that if Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto ipassed away, a million more could be lost forever because of it.

McAfee is doubling down on bitcoin once again, saying that the numbers point to BTC’s meteoric rise next year,

“Run the f***ing numbers. If Bitcoin is less than $2 million by the end of 2020, then mathematics itself is a flawed disappointment.”

While McAfee gave little rationale for his bold prediction, an analyst at the state-owned German bank BaynerLB calculated that May 2020’s halving would give BTC a fair valuation of $90,000.
