PO8, a marine archaeology company that uses blockchain to attract investors, is leading efforts to rally the cryptocurrency community behind its appeal for the victims of Hurricane Dorian in the The Bahamas.

Based in the Caribbean island group, PO8 has established The Bahamas Blockchain Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund (BBHDRF) to help the thousands left homeless in the aftermath of the category 5 storm that hit this week. Blogging on Medium on September 2, PO8 appealed:

PO8, a blockchain company headquartered in Marsh Harbor, Abaco in The Bahamas, has just witnessed the devastation and immediately felt called to action enrolling you, as the global and local blockchain communities to help rebuild and restore the most impacted islands of The Bahamas.

Donations

The company itself has pledged up to 1 billion PO8 tokens – a utility token each worth about $0.012 – saying that for every dollar worth of cryptocurrency donation, it would match it 100%.

Crypto donations are to be made in bitcoin or ether to the BBHDRF, a multi-signature wallet. The wallet will be managed by Don Cornish, island administrator of Freeport Grand Bahama. Cash donations will be accepted on the company’s GoFundMe page.
