Prominent Australian computer scientist and self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto Craig Wright has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Roger Ver, the CEO at Bitcoin.com.

Wright, the self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin, the world’s most dominant cryptocurrency, has accused Ver, in court papers, of intentionally making false statements – which could potentially damage Wright’s reputation.

According to DecryptMedia, Ver was recently served with a lawsuit by Wright at a Bitcoin Cash meetup in London for calling him “a fraud and a liar.” Although the video in which Ver referred to Wright as a fraud has now been removed for “violating Youtube’s community guidelines,” the Bitcoin.com CEO has since published a version of the video on microblogging platform Twittter.

Ver Planning To Release Another Video, After First Gets Taken Down

When questioned about what exactly he was planning to do, after receiving the libel suit, Ver remarked:

I think I’m going to put out another video calling him a fraud and a liar again. I’m not worried one bit. I’m annoyed I have to spend some money on the lawsuit rather than hire one developer to build more tools to bring more economic freedom to the world.

Ver also criticized Wright’s strategy of suing other crypto industry participants including pseudonymous Twitter user Hodlonaut, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and WhatBitcoinDid podcast host Peter McCormack. Many prominent members of the crypto Twitter community have now called Wright a fraud as they do not believe his claim that he’s Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin.

“Not A Good Thing Bitcoin SV Was Delisted”

Interestingly, Ver thinks it was not a good idea by crypto exchange Binance (among other exchanges) to delist Bitcoin “Satoshi Vision” (SV), which is a cryptocurrency supported by Wright and CoinGeek’s Calvin Ayre that was forked from Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in mid-November 2018.

According to Ver:

I don’t think it was a good thing. If people want to trade it, I think people should be able to trade it. Free the market, free the world. If you want to trade bitcoin SV, go for it.

$4 Billion Lawsuit Filed Against Wright

In February 2017, a $4 billion lawsuit was filed against Wright by the US District Court of the Southern District of Florida, on behalf of the family of David Kleiman, a computer scientist that had passed away recently (at that time) and who may have contributed to the initial development of the Bitcoin protocol. The lawsuit alleged Wright had been forging contracts, with the intention of illegally acquiring around 1.1 million in Bitcoin.

As alleged in court documents, Wright had “forged a series of contracts that purported to transfer [Kleiman’s] assets to Craig and/or companies controlled by him. Craig backdated these contracts and forged [Kleiman’s] signature on them.”
