Felix Kjellberg, a YouTube star known as PewDiePie on the video sharing platform, has recently signed a deal to exclusively start streaming on cryptocurrency-powered live streaming platform DLive.

According to a recent announcement, the 29-year-old Swedish content creator will stream on the platform. PewDiePie, according to YouTube data, has 93.7 million subscribers, and some of his videos rack up millions of views in a few days.

Starting April 14, the YouTube star will start streaming on DLive, a decentralized community created with the Lino blockchain, on a weekly basis. To support content creators on the platform, Kjellberg is also set to donate up to $50,00 to a total of 100 content creators.

Business Insider has reported PewDiePie is one of YouTube’s biggest earners, as he made over $15.5 million last year. Topping the video sharing platform’s list is a seven-year-old toy review called Ryan, who’s made $22 million in 2018.

DLive is a platform that reportedly rewards content creators and viewers with its native token, Lino points, and doesn’t take any of the creators’ income – while others like YouTube take a share off of it.

The crypto-powered platform also doesn’t charge a fee to let creators use its platform, nor does decrease the “viability and livelihood” of its community. Wilson Wei, Lino Network’s co-founder, stated:

DLive is a place where instead of competing against each other, it benefits creators to support one another. With no platform cuts, we incentivize everyone to create the highest quality content for viewers.

Wei’s firm raised $20 million in February of last year, in order to build a YouTube competitor based on blockchain technology. At the time, Wei revealed he expects content creators to earn “three-to-five times” what they made on YouTube or Amazon’s video streaming Twitch platform.

According to the announcement, DLive is currently available online and on both Android and iOS devices through their app stores. It has over 3 million monthly active users, and 35,000 active streamers.
