John McAfee, the founder of eponymous antivirus software and technology tycoon turned crypto influencer, recently unveiled that he is charging $105,000 per tweet to promote cryptocurrency-related projects and products, and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) in particular.

Using his popular Twitter and Facebook social media accounts, the cybersecurity pioneer revealed his new venture, dubbed the McAfee Crypto Team, which offers a promotional tweets from McAfee’s Twitter account with over 810,000 followers for $105,000 per tweet.

In January, McAfee left his position as chief cybersecurity visionary at MGT Capital Investment. Since then, he’s been focusing on cryptocurrencies, often using his Twitter account to promote the ICOs and altcoins. The tweets were often a complete enigma to followers, as it was unclear whether he was promoting them voluntarily or using his massive amount of followers to earn money. Finally, he revealed every detail regarding the crypto services he offers.

On March 30, McAfee wrote on his Twitter profile: 


According to the company’s website, The McAfee Crypto team provides a multitude of crypto-related services. These include project promotion, whitepaper support, ICO projects and strategic analysis. In the team, he featured his wife Janice McAfee as an Executive Director , followed by himself as CEO. 


“Within the cryptocurrency industry, nothing can match the power of a McAfee tweet. Frequently, a single tweet has resulted in more than a million dollars of investment into an ICO, and multiple currencies have increased more than 100% in price from a single tweet.”

Prices for most of the services are not listed. It’s known, however, one can pay $105,000 for a single tweet from McAfee’s Official Twitter account. The acount, as stated, has over 811,00 followers, although at least 81,079 are likely fake accounts.

The website further makes a dubious claim that it is the “least costly” way to advertise crypto projects.


“Given Mr. McAfee’s price of $105,000 per tweet, the cost per investor reached is the least costly of any marketing avenue in the Crypto world. Considering only his own followers, the cost per investor reached is $0.13. Considering his reach beyond his own followers, the cost per investor reached is frequently less than a penny. This is orders of magnitude less than any other approach,”

Nevertheless, love him or hate him, the controversial crypto celebrity has the ability to affect the price of cryptocurrencies with a single tweet, as he’s shown us over the past few months.
