Yesterday, the global cryptocurrency market capitalization moved closer to the $500 billion mark, as it peaked at $475 billion. Today, the global market cap has dropped approximately $30 billion in value, as all the major cryptocurrencies recorded losses in the last 24-hours.
PayPal has filed a patent for a system designed to improve the speed of cryptocurrency payments last Thursday. The documents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) show that the payment processing giant has developed a system through which senders and receivers can swap private keys rather than sending coins over the network through traditional means.
Top 10
Almost every coin of the top 10 coins by 24-hour volume showed a negative change, ranging from 2 to 12.3%, in the last 24 hours. Huobi Token was the only exception and showed a gain of 0.76%.
Litecoin ($203) and Bitcoin Cash ($1,220) posted a loss of around 4.7%, while Tronix and Monero recorded a negative change of 3.89% and 2.05% respectively. NEO posted a loss of 9.61% and is currently sitting at $107.
BTC
At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is sitting at $10,971 representing a loss of 4.98% in the last 24 hours. More than $930 M worth of BTC were exchanged in the BTC/USD market representing a 22% share of global daily volume. The BTC/JPY pair represents the biggest pair with a 50.5% share.
XRP
The Ripple price has dropped 12.3% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $0.929, with more than $180 M worth of XRP exchanged in the past 24 hours on the XRP/USD pair which has a 21.8% market share of the global daily trading volume. The largest Ripple pair is XRP/KRW with a 33% share.
ETH
The Ethereum price posted a loss of 3.6% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $835, with over $140 M worth of Ether exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETH/USD pair which has a 19.4% market share of the global daily trading volume. The largest Ethereum pair was ETH/BTC with a 48% share.
ETC
The Ethereum Classic price has dropped 12.1% over the past 24 hours and is currently sitting at $25.4, with more than $50M worth of ETC exchanged in the past 24 hours on the ETC/USD pair which has a 15% market share of the global daily trading volume. The largest Ethereum Classic pair is ETC/BTC with a 37.5% share.
